Kolkata, Jun 21 (PTI) Uttarakhand held last year''s champions Karnataka to a spirited 1-1 draw as both the teams advanced into the semifinals in the National Junior Football Championship for Dr B C Roy Trophy here today. In another quarterfinal league Group A match, Meghalaya registered a 1-0 win over Goa but both teams had to bow out with Karnataka (7 points) and Uttarakhand (4) finishing first and second respectively. At the Yuba Bharati Krirangan (YBK), Karnataka drew first blood when Lokesh struck in the 20th minute. But Uttarakhand fought back after the changeover with Satnam Bela scoring the equaliser. In another match played simultaneously at the Mohun Bagan ground, Meghalaya scored through Henry Marboh from a freekick in the 79th minute to register their first win. But the win was not enough with Uttarakhand making the semifinals by means of the draw. From Group B, Chandigarh have already made it to the semifinals and the fourth team will be determined tomorrow. Hosts Bengal require a draw against Chandigarh to make the next round, while Orissa have slim chances. Orissa have to win against Manipur with a good margin and pray that Bengal lose to Chandigarh.
