Chandigarh, July 19 (PTI) A city-based doctor, who has been invited by Muttiah Muralitharan to witness his farewell Test against India, today said he was overwhelmed by the gesture of the Sri Lankan spinner. Muralitharan has invited Mandeep Singh Dhillon, HOD of the orthopedics department of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research to witness his swansong Test. "It''s a great honour which he has given me. I am eagerly looking forward to meeting him," Dhillon, also a former consultant of the Lankan team, told PTI. Dhillon who will fly to Lanka tomorrow said he is taking along a gift for the ace spinner. "It''s a personal gift, which I would not like to disclose." Dhillon, who is a specialist in the sports injury management, was working as consultant in the Island nation when the spinner''s manager Kushil Gunasekara asked him to look into his case after chucking allegations were levelled against the bowler. The PGIMER doctor had designed the special brace for Muralitharan when his case was presented to the ICC in 2003-04. He was later cleared when the off-spinner testified with the brace on his arm. The doctor, who had also treated Muralitharan''s shoulder, said he was in regular touch with the ace spinner for the last few years.
