Karachi, Aug.24 (ANI): Former Pakistan wicket keeper Rashid Latif has resigned as Afghanistan's batting coach citing differences and too much interference in his work.

Latif, whose resignation comes just a week after another former Pakistani cricketer, Kabir Khan, resigned as the head coach of the Afghan cricket team, said that too much interference was hindering his ability to perform the duties efficiently.

"Kabir also left his job because of the same reason. I was not free to impose my ideas on the team. From the team combination to the match strategy - the Afghanistan Cricket Board officials want to dictate everything," The Daily Times quoted Latif, as saying.

The former Test skipper alleged that Afghan cricket authorities were not serious about developing the game at the grass root level in the country.

"I was disappointed that despite giving a comprehensive plan to the Afghan cricket authorities for the development of the game at the grassroots level that included establishment of academies and grounds, nothing had happened," Latif said.

However, Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Hamid Shinwari accused Latif of demanding more money for his job

"We approached the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) but they said they couldn't afford the demands being made by Latif. So, now we are looking for another coach," Shinwari said. (ANI)
