Karachi, Oct 29 (PTI) The Pakistan Cricket Board has resumed its hunt for a specialist coach for national team''s batting department, which of late has put up some inconsistent batting display in all three forms of the sport. Sources in the Board confirmed that PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt had given his approval to finding and hiring a suitable batting coach. "Butt has said that the batting coach can also be from a foreign country and for this purpose Chief Operating Officer Wasim Bari has been given the task of negotiating with some suitable candidates," the source said. Pakistan, in the past has never had a permanent batting coach although they have hired consultants for this purpose. Former England opener Geoffrey Boycott had worked as a batting consultant for a few days with the team in Pakistan. With the 2011 World Cup round the corner, frail and inconsistent batting performances against all oppositions has made the PCB worried. The source said that the batting coach would be appointed specifically keeping the World Cup in mind. "The Waugh (Steve and Mark) brothers of Australia are under consideration to work with the players and prepare them for the World Cup," the source said, adding, "but nothing is final as yet." The source was not aware if the PCB had made any contact with the Waugh brothers as yet. He said, locally also, some candidates were under consideration. However, Butt was not very keen on having a local coach although former captains and batting greats Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar have expressed their interest in working with the players. Presently the Pakistan team is being coached by Waqar Younis, a former fast bowler, while the assistant coach is also a former Test bowler, Aaqib Javed.
