Karachi, July 24 (PTI) A senior official of Pakistan Tennis Federation today asked the Cricket Board to compensate the different sports bodies in the country for the refusal of foreign teams to tour Pakistan because of security reasons. Khawaja Saeed Hai, a former Davis Cupper and a PTF official, said it was due to the Pakistan Cricket Board that the militant attack on the Sri Lankan team had occurred in March last year. "It was after that deadly attack that foreign teams and players simply refused to visit Pakistan," Hai said. "And now it is clear from the inquiry report and other sources that the attack happened because of gross negligence on part of the Board and its failure to coordinate with the government in providing proper security to the Sri Lankan team," he said. Hai said the Board must be held responsible for the sad state of affairs in Pakistan sports. "Today no team or player is willing to tour Pakistan because of that one unfortunate incident. As a result, all other sports are suffering," he said. "More importantly because of no international events in Pakistan, sports bodies including the PTF are facing financial problems," he added. Hai demanded that the PCB start compensating all sports federations in the country so that they can send their players abroad for more international competitions. "The PCB must compensate all federations so that other sports don''t die out in the country. The PCB is financially the strongest sports body in the country and they must compensate us. I would soon approach the Pakistan Sports Board and Sports Ministry to take up the issue with the PCB," he said. He pointed out that Pakistan Davis Cup squad had been forced to play its last three home ties abroad and lost to New Zealand recently. "If the tie had been played in Pakistan I am sure we would have won it but because of that attack that took place because of the PCB''s poor organisation, other sports are also suffering."
