Belgrade (Serbia), Sep 3 (PTI) Indian team kept their hopes alive of finding a place in the top 10 with Darpan and Ashwin securing 4.5 points each after the seventh round of the World Chess Championship for the blinds here. Rajesh Oza is at four points, while Udupa is still struggling with his form and remains on 2.5 points. Playing with white, Darpan had rather easy game due to his sound preparation. The game went on as per Darpan''s preparation till 23rd move and he forced Engl Heinz of Germany to resign in 26th moves. Ashwin continued his attacking play in this crucial round, in spite of slight weak position with tactical play. He out played his counter part D Bischoff of Germany in just 31 moves, a release said. Rajesh came across an unusual opening while playing against Dimov Daniel of MKD but he followed the basics, converted the advantage of extra pawn in to win in 48 moves. However, Udupa is playing well below his normal strength and is still to find his form. Today he made blunder against S Harnandan of Neatherland and handed over the victory to his opponent just in 11 moves. Next two rounds are crucial for India, they are already in verge to improve on their past performance and still has a chance to secure place in top 10 which is dream, provided they win the remaining matches.
