Maha Govt felicitates Tejaswini, Donde

Mumbai, Aug 31 (PTI) Maharashtra Government today felicitated shooter Tejaswini Sawant and sailor Dilip Donde for their achievements in the sports arena. Sawant became the first Indian woman shooter to clinch a gold medal at the recent World Championships in Munich while Donde is the first Indian ever to circumnavigate the globe solo on a sail boat. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who felicitated both at a function in south Mumbai this evening, said their outstanding performance has brought laurels to the nation and the achievements will inspire other youngsters to do their best for the country. Tejaswini shot a world-record equalling score of 597 (100,100,100,99,99,99) in the 50m Rifle Prone event to finish on top. She equalled the 1998 record set by Marina Bobkova of Russia. Naval officer Donde''s Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSL) Mhadei embarked on the voyage in August 19 last year and touched base back in India at the Sunk Rock Light House in May this year.
