Top seeds from Maharashtra in girls u-14 semifinal

Chennai, Aug 27 (PTI) All the top four seeds -- three from Maharashtra and Simran Kaur Sethi of Delhi -- in the Under-14 girls section entered the semifinals of Adidas-MCC AITA National Junior Hard Court tennis championship here today. Sneha Devi Reddy, Druthi Venugopal and Rithuja Bhosle and Sethi scored easy victories over their respective rivals to book their places in the last four. In the boys under-18 category, fifth seeded Fateh Deep Singh caused a minor upset disposing of third seed P.Vignesh of Tamil Nadu 10-6. Punjabs Fatesh Deep joined Delhis Sumit Nagal and Sahil Deshmukh (Maha) in the semi final grade. In the girls under-18 section, qualifier Eetee Mehta of Gujarat defeated fellow qualifier Aksahra Iska of Andhra Pradesh 10-4 to progress to the semifinal. Others to make the grade are top seeded Aishwarya Agarwal (MP), second seed Sharmada Balu (Karna) and Sharan fourth seed Sanchana Paul (TN). Results of quarterfinal Matches: Boys Singles: Under-14: Sumit Nagal (DEL) bt Naveen Anand (HAR) 10-8, Fateh Deep Singh (PB) bt P.Vignesh (TN) 10-6, Sahil Deshmukh (MAH) bt Shailenar Boneface (HAR) 10-1. Girls Singles-Under 18: Aishwarya Agarwal (MP) bt Prarthana Thombre (MAH) 10-9(4), Eetee Metha (GUJ) bt Aksahra Iska (AP) 10-4, Sharan Sanchana Paul (TN) bt Ankita Bhatia (DL) 10-2, Sharmada Balu (KAR) bt Bhavishetty Sowjanya (AP) 10-5.
