New Delhi, Oct 10 (PTI) Handicams, helmets, balloons, radio, skateboards and balls are among a list of 35 articles prohibited for volunteers and workforce entering the Commonwealth Games Village. Hockey sticks other than that of participants is a strict no-no and those who want to listen to radio will not be able to carry it as it figures in the list. Delhi Police, which came out with the list of 35 prohibited items today for the workforce in Athletes Village, has also banned bringing pets inside by them. However, a senior police official said, they can take coins to Athletes Village as police "don''t treat the workforce as a threat" to those living there. Carrying coins to stadiums was banned by police. The list also includes alcohol, match box, bottles, cans, umbrella, chairs or stools, smoke canisters, toygun, inflammable items and sharp-edged weapons like knives, dagger and sword. Tiffin will not also be allowed inside the village though the workforce can bring babyfood. Briefcase and hand bags except of reasonable size, torn-up papers, glass container and laser light also figure in the list. "Any article that might be used as a weapon deemed to be offensive or abusive or compromises with public safety will be confiscated," the official said. Any other item that could cause harm and can be used as a missile or projectile, can damage or cause public nuisance, as determined by Delhi Police based on specific threat perception could be prohibited, he said. "No facility to keep these items at the entry points has been provided. Confiscated items will not be returned to the owner after the Game are over and will be disposed of as provided for under the law," the official said. Amit, a Delhi University student who works as a volunteer at the Village, said the list did not bother him as he brings nothing except for his motorcycle and helmet. "I park it at Yamuna Bank Metro Station. I have no problems," he said. However, another volunteer Richa felt the police are "a bit" strict. "They take time in checking and frisking. It''s a bit irritating," she said.
