Guangzhou, Nov 17 (IANS) India's Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh moved into the quarterfinal of the men's 75kg boxing competition at the Asian Games with a stunning 9-4 win over Chinese Taipei's Yu Ting Yang at the Foshan Gymnasium here Wednesday.
Vijender was trailing 1-2 after the second round but came back strongly in the last round, where he earned eight points. In the last 15 seconds, Vijender earned five points when he rained a series of blows on Yang.
In the quarterfinal, Vijender will face South Korea's Deokjin Cho, who defeated Turkmenistan's Aliasker Bashirov.
Vijender's compatriot Vikas Krishnan lost his first round bout in the 60kg category. Vikas lost 1-8 to Thailand's Saylom Ardee.
