Slovakia picked an attacking side to face New Zealand in their Group F opener on Tuesday with the injured Miroslav Stoch replaced by forward Erik Jendrisek.

Jendrisek will join Robert Vittek and his regular strike partner Stanislav Sestak in a three-pronged attack. Stoch misses out after picking up an injury in training earlier this week.

New Zealand's combative midfielder vice-captain Tim Brown also did not make the starting lineup after failing to recover in time out from a broken shoulder.

Shane Smeltz, Rory Fallon and Chris Killen will play up front in the All Whites' first finals since their debut in 1982, with Tony Lochhead, Simon Elliot and Leo Bertos in midfield.

Both coaches -- Ricki Herbert and Vladimir Weiss -- return to the tournament after representing their countries as players, Weiss for the former Czechoslovakia. Weiss's son, also Vladimir, occupies his usual place in midfield.
