England batsman Kevin Pietersen will stay at Surrey in 2011 after converting his end of season loan from county rivals Hampshire into a permanent move.
"I'm delighted to be playing for Surrey next season, as I really enjoyed my time with them at the end of this year," Surrey quoted the 30-year-old right-hander as saying after signing his new contract in Australia where he is preparing for the first Ashes test in Brisbane.
"I hope I can get some games in over the summer and spend time at this great Club, meeting more of the staff and supporters," he added.
Surrey chief executive Paul Sheldon said Pietersen had shown his positive influence on younger players in the dressing room after his three weeks at the club.
"Although there is a packed schedule of international cricket in 2011, I know that whatever contribution he can make to the club will be of immense value," he added.
