Dhoni offers prayers at Deori temple near Ranchi

Ranchi, Aug 30 (ANI): Indian cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni visited the vintage Devi temple known as Deori here on Monday and sought blessings of the divine along with his newly wed wife Sakshi and other family members.

This was Dhoni's first visit to the ancient Deori temple in Tamar near Ranchi after his recent wedding.

His visit to the temple has earned immense importance with reports coming in that whenever his performance in the game declines he visits this temple located around 65 kilometres from Ranch city.

Scores of fans and media personnel followed the couple.

"Dhoni has come to the temple for the first time after his wedding to offer prayers to the Goddess. Whenever he comes to Ranchi, he surely visits this temple seeking blessings of the Goddess," said Manoj Panda, Priest, Deori Temple.

"Today he came along with his wife Sakshi, father Paan Singh and other family members and after performing the essential rituals, he went back," he added.

Dhoni is presently in his hometown after the Sri Lanka tri- series, which India lost by 75 runs in the final. By G S Ojha (ANI)
