Lowly Real Murcia hold Real Madrid in King's Cup

Wed, Oct 27 10 02:38 AM

Real Murcia, from Spain's Segunda B (third tier), held La Liga leaders Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw in a King's Cup last 32 first leg on Tuesday.

Madrid coach Jose Mourinho fielded a changed side at the Nueva Condomina but still included the likes of Iker Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo to make sure there was no repeat of last season's 4-0 humbling against third-tier Alcorcon.

The visitors, making their first appearance in the competition this season, dominated but were unable to unlock a Murcia side, who like Real, are unbeaten this year.

The return leg at the Bernabeu is scheduled for Nov. 8.

Later on Tuesday, Barcelona were visiting Segunda B's Ceuta. The other 14 first-round matches are being played on Wednesday and Thursday.
