Ropar (Punjab), Nov.28 (ANI): Quadrush 2010, an adventure sport event, enthralled participants in Punjab's Ropar District over the weekend.

The event was held at the Kikar Lodge Resort in which participants used the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), also called Quad bikes along dusty tracks.

A woman contestant Gauri Gupta participated in the event for the first time.

"One thing stuck me, the first man who kept his foot on moon said 'It is just a single step for me, but a huge step for mankind'. It is for me. It's a single step for a woman like me, but a huge step for womankind. If I can participate, any other woman can, and they should," said Gupta.

"It's a part of it and we should enjoy it. I am not saying it is about equality or anything but, if you have courage, then there is no looking back. Men, women, children and the handicapped, if you have the jest, nothing can stop you," she added.

Anurag Bareja, a paraplegic contestant from New Delhi, said that he found these bikes safe for riding.

According to Hargobinder Singh, the organiser of Quadrush 2010, ecological balance should be borne in mind before organising such events. On this score, he hailed mother nature.

"The Quadrush is a very different adventure sport where we figure out the trails in five legs of various difficulties. We completed one quadrush in Kikar Lodge; we got very fantastic trails and none of the trails upset the forest," said Singh.

Raj S.Rathore was declared the winner of the race while Rahul Soni and Balwinder Singh were first and second runner ups respectively.

Rathore was given a branded watch. The first woman participant, Gauri Gupta, received a special gift. (ANI)
