Nashik, Oct 13 (PTI) The grand welcome which awaits Kavita Raut, who won India''s first medal in athletics in the Commonwealth Games, in Nashik will have to wait as she will directly head to Bangalore from Delhi to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games in China. The bronze medal winner in women''s 10,000m race will join a national athletics camp in Bangalore to prepare for the Guangzhou Games, which is her next target after the Commonwealth Games glory, her coach Vijendra Singh told reporters here. Kavita''s stint in Bangalore is likely to delay her arrival in Nashik, where a grand welcome awaits her, he said. It was Singh, who spotted Raut, who was born to a poor family in a village in Nashik and faced a tough childhood before gaining stardom with her performance in the CWG games. He brought her to Nashik and ensured that she received proper training. Once she had shown glimpses of her talent, some medical practitioners came forward with financial help, which helped her to participate in various competitions, Singh said. Meanwhile, Kavita''s father Ramdaus Raut said his daughter is dreaming of buying a house in the city. City-based Bhujbal foundation has declared a cash prize of Rs five lakh to the Kavita Adivasi Development Corporation. Besides, the state government has also announced cash prizes to Kavita for her success in the Commonwealth Games.
