No need to spend big to regain Premier League: Ferguson

London, Jul 20 (ANI): To regain the Premier League title, Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson believes he does not need to spend a big amount on signing new players.

Ferguson has so far spent just 16 million pounds this summer on two youngsters, Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez, while their neighbouring rivals Manchester City have splashed nearly 77 million pounds.

United fans believe that the club's massive 716.5 million pounds debt run up by the Glazer family is restricting Ferguson from signing new players.

"I can't speak for other clubs but we're comfortable with the squad we've got. I've bought players at the right time of the season and we are quite happy with that," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.

Defender Smalling, 20, came from Fulham for 10 million pounds, while Mexican strike ace Hernandez, 22, was a six million pounds buy from Guadalajara.

Hernandez will join up with the squad next week, while Smalling is already settling in with his new teammates. (ANI)
