Kolkata, Mar 14 (ANI): Kolkata Knight Riders registered a convincing win over Bangalore Royal challengers by beating them by 7 wickets at the home ground on Sunday evening.

With Sunday's win the Kolkata team completed two wins out of two, and is maintaining top position.

However, last IPL season's runners-up, Bangalore looked completely outplayed in all departments of the game on Sunday against Kolkata Knight Riders.

With Ganguly rotating his bowlers, boundaries dried up for the Challengers as Mathews, who was the Man of the match in their last match against Deccan Chargers, took two more wickets in Robin Uthappa (20) and Roelof van der Merwe (1) in his last over to emerge as the wrecker-in-chief.

The Bangalore team could only set a modest target 136 before the Knight riders and it was comfortably achieved by Kolkata team in 19.2 overs without much hiccups.

Tiwari (50) and Hodge (50) smashed half-centuries, providing their side a flying start with their 101-run stand.

Ganguly (23) played a handy knock then and almost won the game for his side before departing towards the end.

Shah (2*) and Pujara (5*) sealed the victory finally in the last over. Van der Merwe (2/27) and Kumar (1/16) bowled really well for Bangalore but unfortunately did not have enough runs on the board to defend. (ANI)
