New York, Apr 22 (ANI): Ace golfer Tiger Woods will be participating in two more tournaments after returning to golf at the Augusta Masters earlier this month following his five-month layoff due to his extra marital affair expose.
Woods gave PGA Tour officials' early notice of his intention to compete in the Players Championship at Sawgrass, Florida, in three weeks' time.
The World No1 also added to his schedule the AT and T National, which benefits his foundation.
In doing so, Woods once again beat the registration deadline, something he almost never did in the years prior to his image-shattering sex scandal, the Daily News reports.
Last week, Woods committed to play the Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte, which begins on April 29. His commitment to the Players Championship, starting May 6, was nine days ahead of the deadline, the paper said
In recent years, Woods had waited until the final days or even up until the last moment before deadlines to commit to tournaments, but his early assurances will allow these tournaments extra time to promote his appearance, as well as to prepare to host extra fans and hire extra security, it added.
"We are thrilled to add Tiger Woods to the Players Championship and really appreciate the fact that he gave us advance notice so we can generate additional excitement here in the community," Jay Monahan, the tournament's executive director, said in a statement. (ANI)
