London, May 23(ANI): England manager Fabio Capello is taking no chances with ace striker Wayne Rooney, who is still having treatment on his injured right ankle.

Capello had him working on strengthening exercises in Austria last week for "reinforcement" work on the damaged ligaments.

According to reports, Rooney will play some part in Monday's friendly with Mexico at Wembley.

"I can leave some players out, but Rooney always wants to play.

If I tell him no, he says 'I want to play!', 'I want to train!' 'why you substitute me, I want to score!'," News of The World quoted Capello, as saying.

"It is good because he is an example to the other players, he is positive to be around," he added.

Rooney had injured his ankle ligaments in Manchester United's Champions League game against Bayern Munich and aggravated it during United's Premier League derby victory over Manchester City.

England are taking no chances with his ankle and are using a vigorous stretching exercises to make sure he is totally fit for the World Cup opener in 19 days' time. (ANI)
