Triple jumper Renjith wins gold Kochi, May 15 (PTI) Star athlete Renjith Maheshwari of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) stole the limelight with a meet record in the Men''s triple jump (rpt triple jump) event at the National Open Athletics Championship here today. Renjith, who holds both the National and Meet records, did not face much of a problem before clinching the gold medal with a leap of 16.97m, bettering his own meet record of 16.68m set in 2009 at Bhopal. The national record also stands in his name at 17.04m created in 2007. Amarjeet Singh, also from RSPB, with 16.18m took home the silver while B Bhaskar of Tamil Nadu laid his hands on bronze at 15.91m. Defending champion RSPB''s domination was such that they won four golds, five silver and five bronze in the nine events held today. Favourite and international star Seema Antil of Haryana, won the Women''s Discus throw rather comfortably without any challenge. She threw the discus to 53.05m to clinch the gold, while Parwathi Seth and Amanpreet Kai, both from RSPB, with 49.49m and 44.09m, settled for second and third places respectively. Railways athletes made a clean sweep in the Men''s 400m Hurdles winning all the three medals, with national record holder Joseph Abraham at 50.67 secs bagging the gold, and Satender Singh at 50.99 secs and Avin A Thomas at 51.02 secs finishing at second and third position. .
