Ruthless Bhalla storms into final

Playing a controlled game, defending champion Sameer Bhalla stormed into the final in the senior senior category with a 3-2 win over Aneesh Saini in the 24th Haryana State Billiards and Snooker Championship being played on Tuesday.

Bhalla claimed the first frame on the black ball before Saini claimed the next two frames with breaks of 41, 37 and 31 points. In the fourth frame, Saini was leading by 41 points before Bhalla clawed his way back into the match potting the red ball to make a break of 49 points and claim the frame. The fifth and final frame was won by Bhalla as he rallied his way into the final of the senior snooker category. Earlier in the quarter-final encounter, Sameer Bhalla ended the challenge of Karan Dheer with a 3-0 win. Karan Dheer made a fine start in the first frame as he made a break of 31 points before Bhalla potted the yellow ball and claimed the first frame. Bhalla then claimed the next two frames to make his way into the semi-final stage.

In the second semi-final encounter, Ankur Nanda scored a 3-1 win over Vishal Mor. Ankur claimed the first frame with a huge margin before Vishal claimed the second frame. In the third frame, Anand claimed the frame as he potted the black ball before claiming the fourth and final frame to book his place into the final.

In the senior billiards category, Himanshu Aggarwal shocked defending champion Anil Sharma with an emphatic 2-0 win to move into the final. Playing a fine game, Himanshu claimed the first frame with a 150-138 margin before claiming the second frame with a narrow margin of 150-141. In the second semi-final encounter, Sameer Bhalla scored a 2-0 win over Aman Goyal to book a berth in the final.
