6 wrestlers' dope flunk confirmed

Sports Minister M S Gill slammed dope flunked athletes who have caused a major embarrassment to the country barely a month before the Commonwealth Games saying that India does not want "dope tainted" medals. "We don''t want dope tainted medals.

The ''B'' samples of the six wrestlers today turned out to be positive for stimulant methylhexanamine, which was added as a banned substance only this year by World Anti-Doping Agency. Four of them -- men''s freestyle wrestlers Rajiv Tomar (120kg), Sumit (74kg) and Mausam Khatri (96kg) and women''s freestyle wrestler Gursharanpreet Kaur (72kg) -- were removed from the Commonwealth Games squad.

Rahul Mann (60kg) and Joginder Singh (120kg) were the other two wrestlers. Gill said the persistent rain at the Capital has upset the schedule of the preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

"It a matter of concern it has been raining here. It is a wet September so far just like August.

It has affected preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies. We have to do rehearsals also.
