Dhaka, Sep 26 (IANS) The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said Sunday that a team named 'BCB XI' formed to play exhibition matches against the visiting Kolkata Mohammedan Sporting Club is not an official side and threatened legal action against the organisers.
'No official or representative of Kolkata Mohammedan Sporting Club of West Bengal in India, had ever contacted the BCB in relation to this tour. The BCB has no knowledge of the the members playing this team and is not a representative side endorsed by the board,' the BCB said in a statement here Saturday.
The BCB announced a probe and threatened legal action against the organisers.
The BCB said at no point had any local organiser or representative associated with the tour officially sought any assistance from the BCB for hosting the series.
'Two unknown organisers named Moinudin bin Maksud and Magferul Islam posing as the official and the manager of Kolkata Mohammedan Sporting Club cricket team announced that their team would play a number of cricket matches against a BCB XI and also with Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Friday.
'The hurriedly organised press conference raised a lot of questions as the so-called officials failed to answer many queries about the tour.'
The Kolkata team which left for Bangladesh Sep 22 is scheduled to play four limited over matches and a T20 match.
