Wed, Sep 29 10 12:17 PM

U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters will skip next month's China Open after having moles removed from her foot.

"I am very sorry to have to cancel for Beijing," Clijsters said on her website. "The operation had been planned for quite a while. However, the wound on my sole heals really bad. Therefore playing tennis is not possible."

The $4.5 million China Open runs from Oct. 2-10, and is headlined by Danish world number two Caroline Wozniacki and fourth-ranked Venus Williams.
