Lt Gen Halgali visits Village, meets Indian athletes

New Delhi, Oct 2 (PTI) The Director General of Military Training, Lt Gen Ramesh Halgali today visited the Commonwealth Games Village to encourage 45 Indian athletes who are from Defence services. Halgali, along with senior Defence officials spent about an hour and half inside the Village interacting with the athletes. They also took a round of the International Zone. "We have given them the best of training infrastructure. We have hired very good coaches and we monitor their training all the time," Lt Gen Halgali told PTI. Asked how many medals the athletes would get, the senior Army officer said, "All of athletes are very good and I am hopeful for all of them." Out of the 17 disciplines, the Defence personnel would be representing India in 10. Interestingly, four out of eight Indian wrestling team members are from the forces. Similarly, three out of six archers and about nine shooters have a defence background.
