Former world champion Daiane Dos Santos has been suspended for five months for a doping offence, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) said in a statement on Friday.
The 26-year-old Brazilian, world champion in the floor exercise in 2003, tested positive in an out of competition check last July and the FIG said the ban would start immediately.
Dos Santos can appeal to the FIG tribunal or the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within 21 days of notification.
