Australia begin NZ tour with verbal goof-ups

Wellington, Feb 25 (PTI) Australia began their New Zealand tour with verbal bloopers by coach Tim Nielsen and Twenty20 captain Michael Clarke that had the entire team red-faced. Coach Tim Nielsen started the proceedings soon after his arrival at the airport, saying "To be honest, we haven''t had a lot of sex, um, success over here." And once he was through with the interaction, the Australia coach had a humble request to make even though the local media was in no mood to oblige him. "Could you wipe the sex bit, I don''t really want the wife hearing that," Nielsen said. A day after Nielsen''s faux pas, it was Clarke who put his foot in the mouth today. Talking about New Zealand pacer Shane Bond, Clarke said the 34-year-old pacer was still a threat and his teammates would have to do the homework to counter him. "We''ll have a good look at footage of bondage...ahmm, Bondy," said Clarke, triggering laughter. "Geez I feel like the coach, what''s going on," Clarke was quoted as saying by the New Zealand Press Association (NZPA). Even though Clarke restructured the sentence and delivered it again, he realised the damage had been done. "Front page, I can see it now...," Clarke sighed as he made a hasty exit.
