New Delhi, Feb.25 (ANI): Cricket lovers in Ahmedabad, where the third and the last one day of the series against South Africa is scheduled to be played on February 27, would be deprived of vintage Sachin Tendulkar show, as the master blaster has been rested for the match.
According to sources, the team management has decided to rest Tendulkar and test the bench strength in Ahmedabad, as India has already pocketed the three match series.
National selectors will meet at Chennai today (Thursday) to pick the Indian squad for third and final One-dayer against South Africa and also the probables for the 2011 cricket World Cup, a day after Tendulkar blasted his way into the record books by hitting the first ever double century in ODI's against the Proteas.
Tendulkar played an incredible and heart-stopping knock of 200 not out which came off just 147 balls, treating the capacity crowd at the Captain Roop Singh stadium to a stunning exhibition of strokeplay.
It was not only Tendulkar's 46th ODI century but it also marked the highest score in one-dayers, eclipsing the previous record of 194 which was held by Pakistan's Saeed Anwar and Zimbabwe's Charles Conventry.
The little master was on fire and the South African bowlers bore the brunt as they were literally made to bleed runs at the small ground at Gwalior. His sublime innings was bejewelled with 25 fours and three sixes. (ANI)
