Margao, Mar 9 (PTI) A late goal by substitute Hiralal Chhetri helped visitors Mumbai Football Club hold Sporting Clube de Goa to a 2-2 draw in the 15th round I-League match at Nehru Stadium here today. Sporting, seeking their first win, showed lot of promise especially in the first half as they created more scoring chances, and dictating terms in the midfield. Man of the match Joseph Pereira and Bibiano Fernandes combined well together to keep the upfront busy even as they created chances but their strikers faltered at crucial junction. Sporting conceded a goal through a defensive lapse but fought back to restore parity, went ahead in the second half and looked set for their first victory but their defence once again succumbed under pressure to concede a late goal. Meanwhile, Mumbai FC''s midfield lacked the cohesion which helped their opponents to control the midfield. They relied mostly on counter moves catching Sporting''s jittery defence on the wrong foot to forge ahead in the 10th minute. Nishant Mehra who initiated the move from the middle played a wall pass with Abhishek Yadav inside the box to split the defence, the former scored from close beating keeper Felix D''souza to his left.
