Indian boxers through to Rd2

Shiva Thapa led the charge as five Indian boxers won their preliminary bouts in the Asian Youth Championships in Tehran.Thapa (54kg), outpunched Bobonazaro Suhrob of Uzbekistan 12-1 in his opening bout. G Nagarjun (57kg) had it easy against Mahmoud Albadawi of Syria who retired due to injury in the third round. Harpal Singh notched up a 3-0 win over Mir Akyazlah Bin Azmi of Malaysia in the 64kg division.

Gangjee shoots six-under

Rahil Gangjee shot the day's best card of six-under 66 to take a share of the 10th spot after the third round in Kuala Lumpur. Gaganjeet Bhullar (70) and SSP Chowrasia (72) were tied 25th with totals of three-under 213. Arjun Atwal shot a three-over 75 to slip to tied 44th.

Jeev rises to tied 29th

A flawless front-nine helped Jeev Milkha Singh turn in a one-under 69 and rise 14 places to tied 29th after the second round of the $ 5.6 million Honda Classic golf tournament here. Jeev has a two-day total of one-under 140. At the top, Columbian Camilo Villegas (66) and American Anthony Kim (64) shared the lead with totals of eight-under 132. Fijian Vijay Singh (66) followed them a stroke adrift at the lone third spot

Lajong stun East Bengal

Title favourites East Bengal's nightmare in the return leg of the I-League continued as they lost to Shillong Lajong FC 0-1 on Saturday. Daniel Bidemi romped home in the 89th minute.

Kaif leads Central to semis

Mohammad Kaif scored an unbeaten 72 to help Central Zone to a seven-wicket victory over South Zone at Vadodara in the quater-final match of the Deodhar Trophy. Bowling first, Pankaj Singh, RP Singh and Sudeep Tyagi ripped through the South Zone top-order before skipper R Ashwin scored 79 as South managed 222. Central chased successfully with 10.1 overs to spare. They will now take on West Zone in the semi-finals.

Aus win 2nd ODI, square series

Australia prevailed by 12 runs over New Zealand in a rain interrupted 2nd ODI to level the series 1-1 in Auckland. Man of the Match Vettori helped his side recover from 131/6 to almost reach their goal of 266 before he got out with 13 required from 11 balls. Mitchell Johnson picked up four wickets. Earlier, Mike Hussey, Cameron White and Brad Haddin all scored half-centuries.
