Bopanna-Qureshi in final

Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi are in line for their second ATP Tour title of the season after making the final of the clay court event in Casablanca, Morocco. The Indo-Pak pair beat Germany's Philipp Marx and Igor Zelenay of Slovakia 6-3 6-4 in the semi-finals of the euro 450,000 event. They will play third seeds Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Horia Tecau of Romania for the title.

Show-cause notice to Alemao

The All India Football Federation has served a show-cause notice to Churchill Alemao, patron of Churchill Brothers, for his recent comments against match officials of the country, besides referring the matter to AIFF disciplinary committee. "It is regrettable that you have chosen to make these comments at a press conference organised in connection with the AFC Cup match between your club and Al Hilal from Yemen," AIFF general secretary Alberto Colaco wrote to Alemao.

Ebrahim ends third in testing

Armaan Ebrahim's solid debut season last year in Formula Two has started giving results with the Indian finishing third fastest in the season opening test session at the Snetterton Circuit at Norfolk, England. Ebrahim was well ahead of his two compatriots ? Parthiv Sureshwaran and Ajit Kumar. Ebrahim faced some gearbox problems mid-way during the second session but showed grit in managing to finish fifth overall, 0.336 sec behind the race leader.

10-man Chirag hold Pune FC

With goalkeeper Sandip Nandy sent off in the 24th minute, Chirag United held Pune FC to a 1-1 draw in the I-League at Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Chirag drew the first blood with Edmilson Marques converting a penalty in the 19th minute, before Pune FC equalised in the 34th minute through Jeje Lalpekhula.

Santoshi wins three medals

India opened their campaign in the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships with 48kg Matsa Santoshi winning a gold and two silver on the first day in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Santoshi won gold in snatch with a lift of 68kg and added a silver in clean and jerk with an effort of 88kg. Her total lift of 156kg fetched her a silver to end her event on three medals. India is being represented by seven lifters.

Gaurav slips to tied 10th

Gaurav Pratap Singh fumbled on the back nine to slip to tied 10th as seven other Indians made the halfway cut in the Myanmar Open. Singh shot a two-under 70 to aggregate 137. Anirban Lahiri shot a four-under 68 to rise to tied 13th. Gaganjeet Bhullar, who also turned in 68, is one shot back to be tied 21st. Himmat Rai (141) carded one-under 71 to join eight others at 41st, one shot ahead of Rahil Gangjee (69) and C Muniyappa, who share the 50th spot.

Ghotra makes matchplay semis

Randhir Singh Ghotra upset Gaurav Ghei 3&2 in the pre-quarterfinals before beating Navtez Singh 2&1 to make the semi-finals of the SRF All India Professional Golf Matchplay in New Delhi. Ghotra will play Vinod Kumar for a place in the final. Defending champion Ashok Kumar set up a last-four clash with Shamim Khan.
