London, May 25 (ANI): Former England Test captain Michael Vaughan has said T20 specialist Eoin Morgan should exhibit all his natural shots in Tests.
"Eoin Morgan has already been a trailblazer in his short career, and now, he is in position to kickstart a new era by becoming the first Twenty20 specialist to be picked for an England Test team," The Telegraph quoted Vaughan as saying.
Due to Paul Collingwood's unavailability, Morgan with a first-class average of 36.54 has been elevated to the Test squad for the opening match against Bangladesh.
By showing the mental aptitude of performing in high-pressure situations, Morgan has earned his place in the Test squad.
"It was a different era when I came through but what is interesting is he is the first Test cricketer produced by the T20 system. A lot of people in this country are still scared of T20. But it is here to stay and Eoin Morgan has come through it and no doubt has the temperament to succeed and cope with the pressures of the big stage," said Vaughan.
"His technique against pace we have not seen, and we will see a bit more of that against Pakistan. But I like his manner. He plays all his shots from a good position and whether he is reversing, hitting over the top or driving the ball, he has a good solid base. I don't see him having any problems," he added.
England's coach Andy Flower too has backed Eoin's selection. (ANI)
