Chennai, Jun 20 (PTI) The local players dominated in all the major events of the 41st Indian Summer Bridge Nationals championships here today. In the Agarwala Pairs event, local pair of S K Chari and D Vijay came out trumps with a tally of 92 ''imps'' in the 54 board finals to lift the trophy. Ariz Anklesaria and P V Vahalia of Ahmedabad came second with 77 and Sumit Mukherjee and Debabrata Majumder of Kolkata were third with 73 imps. In the Ranga & Company sponsored Consolation Pairs event, (for the Company sponsored prizes) V J Puranik and A J Puranik of Maharashtra turned out winners but here also, the Tamil Nadu pair of S N Subramanian and Kalyani Iswaran came in second. In the main event, the the TCS sponsored inter-state championships, Tamil Nadu represented by B Prabhakar, N R Kirubakara Moorthy, K R Venkataraman, R Krishnan, S Sunderram and P Sridhar seems to be well on the way to claim the trophy. With seven boards to go in the 56 board final against West Bengal (C V Rao, Badal Das, Shibnath Sarkar, Aloke Sadhu, Parthasarathi Mukherjee and Pranab Bardhan), Tamil Nadu has established a big lead of 55 imps and it seems unlikely that West Bengal will catch up.
