New Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) International Cricket Council (ICC) president Sharad Pawar Monday said serious action will be taken against any cricketer involved in match-fixing after the London police complete their investigation into the match-fixing allegations surrounding the Pakistan team.
Pawar said the ICC will wait for the investigation to be completed.
'It is improper for me to say a thing at this point. The British police are investigating the case and we will take action after that. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will never encourage or protect anything which is wrong,' said Pawar, who is also India's agriculture minister.
'The prime minister of Pakistan has shown seriousness on the issue. It is a good thing. I will be speaking to the PCB and ECB to discuss the matter,' said Pawar.
Mazhar Majeed, a 35-year-old agent, was caught on video-tape accepting 150,000 pounds in a sting operation conducted by The News of the World (NOTW) reporter.
Three Pakistani players - including captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir - are charged with under-performing in the fourth Test match between England and Pakistan.
