Mumbai, Aug 7 (PTI) A national-level weightlifter has moved the Bombay High Court after she was not shortlisted for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, which India is hosting. A division bench of the High Court would hear weightlifter Mayur Sinhasane''s petition on August 10. Sinhasane, a Mumbai-based player, was ranked third in the recent National Senior Weightlifting Championship at Udaipur, his petition said. According to him, the first eight players of the championship were to be shortlisted in the "core group". Sihasane''s name did not figure in the core group of 32, from which the Indian squad (of eight players in men''s section) would be selected. However, the Indian Weightlifting Federation claimed that Sinhasane was dropped because his performance has been declining over the last few years. The division bench of Justices D D Sinha and Mridula Bhatkar remarked during the hearing yesterday that selectors must give reasons for dropping him. But as Sinhasane has not made the selection panel a party to the petition, the hearing was adjourned.
