Russia won the bid to host the 2018 World Cup and Qatar was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup.
Russia was chosen over the likes of England and Spain-Portugal to host the 2018 World Cup, while US lost out to Qatar, as the latter will host the 2022 World Cup.
Other contenders for the 2022 bid were Japan, South Korea and Australia. Brazil was
already chosen as host of the next World Cup
