Shillong, Jan 27 (PTI) Defending champions Churchill Brothers squanderd many a opportunities as they played a goalless draw with hosts Shillong Lajong FC in a Round 12 encounter of the I-League here today. With this result, Churchill were now in the fifth spot with 19 points and Lajong at 10th position with 10 points. The visitors were in an attacking mood right from the word go, but lack of co-ordination among the strikers and some stunning saves from Lajong goalkeeper Gumpe Rime made it tough for them to find the nets. After a shot from Lajong''s forward James Gbilee off a throw-in from Seikhohao Tuboi went over the bar in the 10th minute, the hosts did not get many opportunities. Soon after, a header from Churchill''s key striker Odafa Okolie from a corner kick by Charan Rai hit the bars. In the 22nd minute, the Nigerian was caught off-side when he hit one into the nets. Two more efforts by Odafa in the 51st and 64th minute were saved by the Lajong custodian. The visitors missed another opportunity in the 79th minute when Felix Chimaokwu failed to find the nets even though the Lajong defenders were seemingly in a disarray in the middle of the box. The match saw some heated moments, with at least five players sustaining injuries during the proceedings. Lajong''s forward Daniel Bidemi hurt himself twice and was eventually replaced by Laldingliana.
