Dungarpur cricket scholarship launched

Mumbai, Jan 15 (PTI) A two-way cricket scholarship programme to commemorate former BCCI President Raj Singh Dungarpur has been launched, through which promising Indian and England-based university players would visit each other''s country and receive training for 10 days every year. Initiated by Global Cricket School yesterday, with support from Dungarpur family, the scholarship will see an Indian Under-19 university player visiting the United Kingdom every summer for a coaching stint with a local county team, according to GCS director Sachin Bajaj. Similarly a student from the UK will visit India for 10-day coaching with the GCS bearing all the expenses, he said. A student from the famous Cambridge University of UK is the recipient of the first scholarship, while the Indian cricketer to benefit from the scheme is yet to be decided. "The scholarship programme will also include coaching for slum children and distribution of free cricket kits and equipments to the slum children," Bajaj said.
