Vishal shines in DAV-15 win

A Blistering unbeaten knock of 81 runs off just 52 balls by Vishal Thind helped DAV Model School, Sector 15, record an emphatic five wicket win over DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, during the first quarter-final match of the Cremica Cup played at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, on Friday.
Electing to bat first, DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, posted a mammoth 181 for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Prashant top scored for the team with 55 runs, which he made with the help of seven boundaries and two towering sixes in 37 balls.

Nikhil was the other noteworthy contributor with 41 runs. He blasted two boundaries and equal numbers of sixes during his 21 ball knock. The duo played some scintillating shots and helped the team post a competitive score.
Chasing the target, DAV-15 batsmen were well on target from the word go and began to deal in boundaries rather than singles and twos. Vishal Thind was in sublime form as he took just 52 balls to score a quick-fire 81 runs. Harman supported him well and helped the team overhaul the target in just 19.3 overs with five wickets to spare. He contributed 48 runs off just 45 balls.
Meanwhile, in another quarter-final match, APJ Kharar defeated St Stephen's School, Sector 45, by five wickets. Batting first, St Stephen's-45 made 106 for 9 in 20 overs. Abilash top scored for the team with 18 runs, while Manul Jain also scored an identical 18 runs.
In reply, APJ Kharar made 109 for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Kapil Punia top scored with 31 runs but it was Balwidner's superb knock of 29 runs off 22 balls that helped the team register a hard-fought win. He was later adjudged the man of the match for his innings.
