It pays to be a Super Kings' fan!

Chennai, March 20 -- Among the IPL teams, the Chennai Super Kings have one of the best offers for fan club members. Those who joined the Kings Club even three-four months ago got a complimentary ticket with every first ticket they bought for the seven home matches. That meant a member could get as many as seven free tickets during IPL-3. The offer was valid for tickets to the F-stand at Chepauk that are worth Rs 500 each. The team launched the Kings Club after the first IPL in 2008, offering an annual membership to adults for Rs 1000 and to kids for half the price. "A lot of people became members before last year's IPL but got no privileges because the tournament was shifted to South Africa. So we extended their membership by a year for free," said Kings Club official Srikanth. And there was the one-plus-one offer. "I bought tickets to the March 14 and 31 and April 3 ties and got three complimentary tickets," said E. Balakumar, who joined the club in 2009. In comparison, the Kolkata Knight Riders, who launched their fan club this year, are offering their members only a 10 per cent discount on tickets from the third match. But not all Kings Club members are eligible for the offer. "It is valid for people who became members last year or even three-four months ago but not for those who joined recently, after coming to know of this scheme," Srikanth said. "There may be some offers for them next year," he added. For the moment they have to be happy with a start-up kit that includes some goodies and an opportunity to watch the Super Kings practice and get their autographs.
