Lahore, May 31 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) arbitrator's decision to overturn former skipper Shoaib Malik's one-year ban and reduce his two million rupee fine, apparently under some political pressure, has earned him criticism from all quarters, particularly from former players.
Former Test opener Aamer Sohail called Irfan Qadir's decision as 'hasty' and said that the ban was lifted under pressure.
"To hide its own incompetence, the PCB targeted the players and, after pressures from outside, they abruptly lifted the ban," The Daily Times quoted Sohail, as saying.
Former fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz blasted the PCB for first banning the players and then suddenly lifting the ban, and described the decision to revoke Malik's ban as 'a coward's stance'.
"It's a decision taken under political pressure and will damage Pakistan cricket in the future. The PCB took a decision against discipline breaches but couldn't stand the pressure from political forces," Nawaz said.
"I also question the authority of the arbitrator as well who doesn't have the credibility and authority to take such a decision," he added. (ANI)
