London, May 26(ANI): British police chiefs are a worried lot after it was revealed that domestic violence may soar by 25 percent during next month's football World Cup in South Africa.
The figures were based on attacks on match days during the last tournament in Germany.
According to reports, police chiefs are so concerned that they have already asked officers to visit known offenders in the run-up.
"I hope this campaign will help to reassure victims that there is protection available and encourage more victims to report abuse," The Daily Star quoted Theresa May, Home Secretary, as saying. (ANI)
