Chandigarh, June 10 (PTI) Taking a cue from the national selectors, the Punjab Cricket Association has decided to lay more emphasis on fitness of players in the 14-day camp which got underway at PCA stadium in Mohali today ahead of the team selection for this season''s Ranji Trophy. It has been learnt that PCA secretary M P Pandove had told all the probables to concentrate on their physical as well mental fitness to vie for a place in the Punjab Ranji team. According to PCA spokesperson, Sushil Kapoor, Pandove also advised the probables not to hide their injuries, instead nurse them properly in due course of time. "Pandove made it clear that only those players who come up to the physical standards laid down by the experts would be considered for the state team," Kapoor said. Kapoor further said that the camp will be held under the supervision of chief strength coach Adrian Dias, who is also the trainer of the Indian Premier League side Kings XI Punjab. He will be assisted by Sandeep Singh and Maninder Singh, both trainers and physiotherapist Nikhil NP, while Harvinder Singh will be the fast bowling coach and Davinder Arora will guide the spinners. A total of 30 probables reported for the camp today. "Although the emphasis in this camp will be more on physical training including endurance, power strength, sprint and agility, spot bowling sessions separately for spinners and pacers have been kept to hone the skills of the bowlers," Kapoor said. "The camp will run till June 23. A special diet chart has been prepared for the trainees for the duration of the camp," he added.
