Karachi, Jun 30 (PTI) The resumption of India and Pakistan bilateral cricket ties could soon become a reality as the matter came under discussion in the foreign secretaries meeting of both the countries in Islamabad recently, PCB sources said. According to sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), cricket was discussed by the top officials of both countries but in an informal manner. "It was not part of any official agenda but yes Pakistani officials did stress on the need for both countries to normalise cricket relations as well," one source told PTI. When contacted, the spokesman of the foreign ministry said he was not aware of cricket coming under discussion at the recent Indo-Pak talks. "It was not on the agenda for the meetings but if it was discussed on the sidelines of the meetings, I am not aware," Abdul Basit said. However reliable sources in the foreign ministry said cricket did come under discussion on the sidelines as the Pakistan government is keen resume bilateral cricket ties with India. India has suspended cricketing ties with Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks although both countries have met in ICC and Asian Cricket Council tournaments since then. Recently both the countries played against each other in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, where India won a thriller in the final over. "The situation now is that even Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ejaz Butt has an inkling that the Pakistan government is also pushing for resumption of bilateral ties so he is in a better position to talk to the Indian officials of a possible bilateral series even at a neutral venue in Singapore," the source said.
