Another term for Dalmiya in CAB certain

Tue, Jul 27 10 11:08 PM

Kolkata, Jul 27 (PTI) Jagmohan Dalmiya is all set for yet another term at the Cricket Association of Bengal with no election at its Annual General Meeting tomorrow. With nobody to challenge the Dalmiya panel, the AGM, which had seen some close battle a few years ago, will be reduced to a routine affair. In fact, last year too there was nobody to challenge Dalmiya even as there was talks of former India captain Sourav Ganguly set to contest the veteran cricket administrator. Ganguly will however be part of the AGM through the same club, Mohammadan Sporting, which he had represented last year too. This will be his third consecutive year at CAB helm after returning to the post with a convincing win over incumbent Prasun Mukherjee in 2008 elections. There will be some political colours this time around with two Trinamool Congress leaders, Sultan Ahmed and Mukul Roy, both being Union Ministers, participating in CAB working committee and the AGM. Roy will represent Greer Club, while Ahmed will represent Mohammadan Sporting in the working committee. For the first time since 2004, CAB''s AGM will not have elections on its agenda with former CAB joint secretary Amitava Banerjee, who had filed his nomination for the post of vice-president, withdrawing his candidature earlier.
