New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh was on cloud nine after being named one of the six brand ambassadors for the Commonwealth Games while four-time world champion M C Mary Kom was pleasantly surprised to find her name in the list as women''s boxing is not a part of the event. Vijender and Mary Kom, along with ace shooters Abhinav Bindra and Samresh Jung, wrestler Sushil Kumar and shuttler Saina Nehwal, were today named faces of the October 3 to 14 Games this year. Vijender said it was an honour to be the ambassador of the first multi-sport extravaganza in India since the 1982 Asian Games. "I feel blessed and privileged to be in this list," the 24-year-old world number one middleweight boxer told PTI. "The last time I competed in the CWG, I got a silver, this time I am going to get a gold," he added. The Haryana boxer was among the athletes who received the Queen''s Baton Relay at the Buckingham Palace in London and was also there when it touched India last month. Mary Kom, on the other hand, was surprised to get the news. The diminutive boxer was, in fact, participating in the Queen''s Baton relay in Imphal when she first got this news. "Frankly, I am a bit shocked. Women''s boxing is not in CWG still I have been chosen to be a brand ambassador. I feel honoured. I hope women''s boxing is made a part of CWG in the future," the 27-year-old mother of two said.
