England spinner Swann charged with drink driving

London, July 19 (PTI) England off-spinner Graeme Swann was charged with drink driving in Nottingham last month, the police said today. Swann, currently ranked the third in ICC Test bowlers'' chart, was stopped near his home in the West Bridgford area of Nottingham, central England, on April 2 and charged for the offence on June 8. The 31-year-old will appear before magistrates in Nottingham on August 16. Swann has been charged with "driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the limit," a Nottinghamshire Police spokeswoman said. Swann established himself in the England Test side in 2007 and has become the first choice spin bowler. He was a key player of the Ashes winning side of 2009. In May, Swann was named England''s cricketer of the year. He was also named the Man of the Series on England''s last two tours, to South Africa and Bangladesh.
