GFA adopts new constitution

Panaji, Jul 19 (PTI) The Goa Football Association (GFA) became the first state association of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to adopt its statutes on the principles of FIFA Standard Statutes. The changes to the existing constitution were approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting held yesterday. Under the new constitution, the executive committee will consist of an elected president, two elected vice-presidents, one from north and from south district each. There will be seven executive members in the North consisting of four from Bardez and three from Ilhas. In the South, four will come from Salcete and the remaining three from Marmugao Voting will be on zonal basis. While club representatives from the north will vote for Bardez and Ilhas zone members, Salcete and Marmugao will have to count on votes from the south zone. The amended constitution comes into ''immediate effect''. There will also be two nominated members, one an inactive referee who had attained at least class one and one women member representing women''s football. The term of the executive committee will be for four years. The existing executive committee will continue to function till fresh elections are held.
