New Delhi, Jul 8 (PTI) The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee today held a meeting with MCD officials during which the civic body was asked to undertake several beautification works before the sporting event. The meeting was attended by Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, Mayor Prithvi Raj Sawhney and senior officials of the civic agency and OC. "The members of the Commonwealth Games committee of the corporation were present at the meeting. We were asked to undertake several beautification works in the city before the event starts, so that Delhi can be given the look of a ''sports city''," the Mayor told PTI. The MCD has been asked to spruce up entry points to the city and install gates besides putting up Games logos and banners in various areas," he said. Sawhney said the MCD can take up the work if it assured of funds from Delhi government. "We told them we should get funds from Delhi government from the work as we don''t have enough money for this. We will also cross-check with Delhi government before starting work like installing gates as we don''t want any duplication," the Mayor said. He said the MCD also informed the Organising Committee that work on Games projects being undertaken by it are nearly over.
